3.5 Inch Notecard Box & Template

I wanted to create a 3 1/2 box with a separate lid to put 3 x 3 notecards in as a gift for my neighbor, who is moving soon.
I searched around, never finding exactly what I wanted, so using another box template that was the right idea, but the wrong size, I experimented a bit and came up with my own, that I thought I'd share with whoever wants it. For the box part, you will need a 7.5" x 7.5" piece of cardstock or sturdy paper; the lid needs a piece of cardstock or sturdy paper
5 5/8" x 5 5/8".
I like this box, because the walls are doubled, which makes it very neat and sturdy.
For the box, score at 1" and 2" from the left side; turn a quarter turn and score again at 1" and 2". Continue until all four sides are scored. Following my diagram, cut out the portions in red. Cut along the blue line in the direction indicated. For the flaps, cut a snippet out of each corner as shown by the dotted green lines. Make sure you fold and crease all lines before gluing down for the crispest box. I experimented with zip glue and atg adhesive and found my atg adhesive worked best, but your mileage may vary. Be sure to put some adhesive on flaps
The lid to the box is made the same way, only scoring at 1/2" and 1" all the way around.. It is designed so the center is actually 3 5/8", so it is just a tiny bit bigger than the box, so it fits nicely.

Christmas Card Finale and a Creation from LW
Between Mister's surgery last Tuesday (he's on the mend), and the bug I came down with in the meantime (is hacking up a lung just a saying, or is it really possible?), I haven't been as productive as I normally am. I did spend the spare moments in the week to substantially finish this particular run of Christmas cards; some still need buttons, but I'll do that tomorrow after work. I've got about 25 finished, but plan to do another design for the next 25. Doing the same thing over and over gets old ;

Monster Party
I had such a fun weekend! One of the products from said weekend was this darling little card I made at a CTMH Leadershare event. 
Isn't it cute? It was made all with Close to My Heart Products--round cardstock w/ envelope, the Party Animal Acrylix stamp pack, Hooligan Level 1 paper pack, and the ocean embellishment pack.
I have to confess, I signed up to be a CTMH consultant. Don't worry, this blog isn't going to turn into a CTMH advertisement, but they do have great products, so I've started an art blog dedicated to my CTMH creations and deals, so if you're interested, the link is at the top of this blog, so be sure to check it out.
However, I do have lots of non-CTMH stuff to show off, so this blog will continue! In fact, later on, I'll be showing off the non-CTMH stuff I did this weekend, as well as a card that LW made.

What I Did Last Saturday...
As a newbie, I often feel a little at a loss of where to begin for a card idea. So, I bought this book for inspiration, and it really is fabulous. So many sketches and multiple ideas on pulling it all together. So, the cards I worked on this weekend are based on the first two sketches of the book, giving them my own color schemes and twists, of course.
The first card is made from leftovers from my "hi there" card from yesterday. I designed it to be an all-occasion card, thinking I could add a sentiment later based upon the situation. The flower is from the Potpourri Basket cartridge. The second card is my very first Christmas card of the season. Mister really likes simple, elegant designs, and I thought this fit the bill. Papers are DCWV Holly Jolly and ribbon is from Michaels. Sentiment is a stamp from PTI (I really need a new black ink pad--I only have old ones from when the girls were little.)
